Procedure

bullet

Choose a lesson or a story for your felt board presentation. Choose a grade level focus.  If you choose a story, it should also relate to teaching music within one of the national standards.

bullet

Make your felt components.  It does not take much felt to make pictures, notes, or other components.  You may wish to go together with other students to purchase different colors and share.  Cut out all of the components you need to teach your short lesson.  For ideas, just do a search for "felt board templates."  Bring your completed felt pieces in an envelope.

bullet

Lead the class in a lesson This demonstration/lesson should only take 5-10 minutes.  You will begin with a blank felt board and add your components as you teach the lesson or tell the story.

bullet

Provide a handout (with holes punched) of a copy of your felt board with a photograph for each class member to be distributed after your presentation.  You can take the photograph at home with your felt pieces spread on a flat surface.

bullet

Recycle or dispose of all materials.  Leftover materials may be kept or donated to the class.  If you wish to donate your felt pieces, put them back in the envelope and label it with the name of your lesson or story.
